Artist Bio

Zoe Scanlon is a recent graduate from the University of Oregon. Her interest in metalsmithing was sparked by her first enameling class in the spring of 2021. In 2023, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Jewelry and Metalsmithing. Working primarily in enamel, Zoe aims to capture the fragility of everyday quieter moments we tend to forget, memorializing the unmemorable. Through Zoe's practice, enameling becomes a form of catharsis and an art of acceptance. With each layer comes the opportunity to remove imperfections, but It is impossible to fully remove the flaws of an entire layer. Even abrasives cannot erase or conceal the mistakes – unintentional burnout will always be seen.
